IMD has published their yearly ranking of the competitiveness of countries. Denmark, who was first in the ranking the last two years, has dropped to the third place, which is still a very good result.
Results
IMD prepares the country ranking based on a high number of criteria divided in 4 main areas: economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency and infrastructure. Here are some details from the IMD report:
- The most competitive country was Singapore
- The second-most competitive country was Switzerland
- Denmark came in third.
- Ireland fourth.
- Hong Kong fifth.
- USA 12th.
- China 14th.

The Danish Way of Thinking
Maybe the Danish way of thinking is best illustrated by a comment from the association of Danish Industry. They state that after 2 years on top of the ranking, it is a pity that Denmark has dropped down to third place. They go on to say that Denmark has some weak points with which they will have to work to reach the first place again. Most Danes will keep looking for improvements, even when things look good and there is no urgent need.
