Hi,

I am Arne Beyerholm, the founder of Look Abroad!

On this page I will tell you about how Look Abroad! came to life. As this is closely linked to my own life and career, I will include some personal details.

I am a chemical engineer and have worked for years in Danish manufacturing companies. My wife is Spanish and we lived some years in Denmark before we relocated to Spain.

While working in Spain, I got involved in hiring some engineering interns and was surprised by the difference between jobs for young engineers in Denmark and in Spain. In Spain graduates were given a lot of routine work during the first years of their employment and their salaries were relatively low. Further, they were well qualified and highly motivated. In Denmark graduates were expected to work independently much sooner, they worked on more interesting tasks from the first day and they received much higher salaries. However, there was a shortage of engineers in Denmark.

This made me think about helping international engineers moving to Denmark. It was a win-win situation for the international engineers and the Danish employers. The engineers would get stable employment, technically interesting job content and attractive work conditions. The employers would get the qualified engineers they needed and their teams would become more diverse.

I founded Look Abroad! in 2018 and started working on my mission of offering good jobs for international engineers in Denmark, at the same time fulfilling Danish employers’ need for qualified engineers. I later expanded my scope of work to include medical specialists and dentists.

At Look Abroad!, I am able to draw on some very different experiences, such as:

• My personal experience relocating to another country.
• My intercultural experience.
• My engineering background – I do understand engineering job functions and how engineers work.
• My knowledge of Danish industry.

At Look Abroad! we are focused on providing value to both job seekers and employers even when this does not provide us with any short-term business results. We believe that any business providing value to its customers will have a bright future. We also strive to be transparent and clear in our communication.
